Wheelchair drowning: Man dies after falling into water at Sydney Harbour

Police were contacted on Monday evening after a man in a wheelchair fell into Sydney Harbour.

Two people died after a boat capsized at Yamba Bar on the Northern Rivers when a large wave knocked over a vessel carrying two men and a woman at 5:30am.

A wheelchair user has drowned after a late-night incident in Sydney Harbour.

A NSW Police spokesperson said emergency services were contacted about 10.45pm on Monday after a man fell into the water.

Officers arrived at Towns Place Wharf, Miller Point, and jumped in the water to rescue the wheelchair user and pull him to shore.

CPR was performed by police officers until paramedics arrived, but the man was declared deceased at the scene.

An investigation has been opened but police are not treating the incident as suspicious.

He is yet to be formally identified.

A report will be prepared for the coroner.
