A woman has died after she was hit by a garbage truck in Adelaide’s north earlier this week.

The 29-year-old was struck while walking on Park Tce in Salisbury about 11pm on Tuesday.

She was rushed to hospital with critical injuries but on Friday police confirmed she had died.

The truck driver, a 35-year-old man, stopped to help the woman and was not injured in the incident.

He is assisting police with their investigation.

A pair of running shoes and other items of clothing were left at the scene after the accident.
