A manhunt is underway in Geelong, after a woman suffered critical injuries in a hit run crash. The other driver took off on foot.

A woman is fighting for her life after a shocking hit-and-run crash on a road in Victoria.

A red Holden Commodore sedan and a silver Mazda hatchback collided on Barwarre Rd in Marshall, Geelong, at 6.15pm.

The female driver of the Mazda was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

When police arrived they were told the male driver of the Commodore dumped the car and fled on foot.

His male and female passengers remained at the scene and both were taken to hospital with minor injuries.

The front of the Mazda was severely damaged by the impact and unrecognisable following the crash.

Police are investigating exactly how the crash happened and have urged any witnesses to contact them.
