Woman who died after tragic 80m fall at Mapleton Falls on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast identified

A woman who tragically died after plunging 80 metres down a waterfall in Queensland has been identified as a “beautiful lady” by her devastated partner.
Sunshine Coast woman Kate Cooper, 36, died after falling from Mapleton Falls while visiting the scenic national park around 3.30pm on Friday.
A spokesperson from Queensland Ambulance Service said the woman was treated by paramedics for significant life-threatening injuries.

Another person — an 18-year-old male, who was with Cooper at the time — was also injured, and transported to Nambour Hospital in a stable condition.


Her partner, Simon Rosenkranz has since paid tribute to his partner in a touching post online.
“Rest in peace my love,” he wrote.
“You were the most beautiful person I’ve ever met and made me feel so loved and cared for.
“I’ll miss and love you more everyday and cherish the wonderful memories we made.
“I just can’t believe you’re gone.
“I love you beautiful lady XOXO.”

Her family and friends fondly remembered Cooper as a woman with a vibrant personality, known for her kindness and humor.
“She was a beautiful soul, taken too soon,” one friend shared.
A report will be prepared for the coroner, and police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fall.
