Woolworths axes bunch free sample program as customer reviews move to main app
Woolworths has announced it will discontinue a popular members-only program that offered free product perks.

Supermarket giant Woolworths will close a member-only program that offered free samples in exchange for product reviews.
Woolworths told members its standalone platform Bunch would close on October 27, as the retailer prepared for its next chapter of product reviews.
“Customer ratings and reviews are moving directly to the Woolworths website and app, putting your feedback right where millions of shoppers buy groceries every day,” a spokesman said.

The program allowed members to engage with each other through forums to share tips, recipes and stories about food, and had a waiting list to join.

Members received free grocery samples to taste, test and review on the site, but the program has now ceased.
Bunch member reviews will remain visible on the Woolworths website and app under members’ usernames but will not be accessible through the platform when it closes next month.
“Over the years, we’ve loved sharing free samples with you, but we are now evolving our approach to product feedback,” the website stated.
“By bringing reviews right into our digital store and checkout, we’re creating a single, seamless experience.
“This means your feedback will reach and help far more shoppers. While this means we’ll be closing our stand-alone platform and not providing these free samples, your reviews will now have a much bigger impact.”

A Woolworths spokesman thanked the Bunch community for the passion and enthusiasm they brought the platform through their reviews.
“Since its launch, bunch has been a much-loved program and a place where customers and team members could sample and review products,” a spokesman said.
“We are moving ratings and reviews straight onto the Woolworths website and app, the places where our customers are already shopping with us and building their baskets, providing honest feedback directly to shoppers where they can access it instantly.
“As a gesture of goodwill, our loyal bunchees will receive a number of special appreciation offers to boost within their Everyday Rewards account.”
