Less than 24 hours after a technical issue locked customers out of their bank accounts, Westpac and St George customers are again unable to access online and mobile banking services.

The issues appear to have begun around 6am AEDT when hundreds of customers logged reports on the popular outage website DownDetector.

By 7am AEDT, the reports had spiked into the thousands.

“We’re aware that customers are experiencing further issues accessing online and mobile banking,.” Westpac wrote on X early on Wednesday morning.

“Our teams are currently working to fix the issue.

“We apologise for the inconvenience and will continue to share updates here.”

Customers commented they were unable to transfer money, get into apps and were getting declined messages when attempting to make payments.

St George posted a similar message to its X account.
