Farmer Wants A Wife’s Zac and Maya drop relationship bombshell almost two months after reunion episode

Farmer Zac and Maya were the only couple still together following the bombshell Farmer Wants A Wife reunion.

But almost two months after the reunion episode aired, the couple have made a shock relationship announcement ... they too have called it quits.

During the reunion episode, apple farmer Zac admitted long distance had been the biggest hurdle for the couple, with Maya living and working in Melbourne while Zac remained in South Australia’s Adelaide Hills.

At the time, Maya revealed she planned to make the move to South Australia within the next six to 12 months.

However, in a joint Instagram post shared on Monday confirming their split, the former couple admitted they couldn’t overcome the distance, with navigating their relationship proving “to be no easy journey”.

Despite the split, Maya and Zac said there was “no bad blood” between them as they remain friends.

“From the beginning, our connection was strong. We then became each other’s best friends, which led us into an amazing relationship,” the post said.

“Navigating our relationship while being long-distance proved to be no easy journey.

“The timing for us to make that next move wasn’t right, and unfortunately, this shifted the relationship. We have therefore decided to go our separate ways.”

Despite not getting their happily ever after, Zac and Maya said they were still “incredibly grateful” to the show for bringing them together.

“We will both cherish the memories and experiences we shared forever,” the post read.

“We still have an immense amount of love and respect for each other, and definitely zero bad blood.”

During this year’s season of Farmer Wants A Wife, the apple farmer’s journey came down to an agonising choice between Maya and runner-up Mieke.

And while he was taken with Mieke’s beauty, he ultimately saw a future with Maya — a decision that left Maya “over the moon”.

“I’m so happy. I’m definitely falling in love with him. He is the guy I’ve been looking for,” Maya said.

During the reunion episode, apple farmer Zac couldn’t hide his feelings for Maya.

“She is someone who I feel most comfortable with, we’ve had so many laughs and good times,” Zac said.

“I want to spend my future with Maya – potentially be my wife one day.”

After the reunion episode aired, the couple shared a relationship update that appeared to jokingly suggest they were expecting, sending fans wild.

The video featured a montage of clips from their time together, which Zac captioned: “This kids is how I met your mother.”

“19 weeks today,” Maya commented on the clip.

Fans quickly jumped to the conclusion that it was a baby announcement, sharing their well-wishes with the couple.

However, 7NEWS.com.au confirmed at the time they were not expecting a baby and the post was intended as a joke.

Fans and former contestants from this year’s season of Farmer Wants A Wife have since commented on the break-up announcement, sharing their devastation and wishing them both the best for the future.

“I don’t believe in love anymore,” Scarlett, farmer Dylan’s runner-up, commented.

“Two of the most beautiful people I know, I feel so lucky to have met you and watch your relationship grow and flourish, and this ending doesn’t define the love that came before it,” Ally, farmer Dylan’s final pick, said.
