Timothee Chalamet may be losing almost every award for which he’s been nominated for playing Bob Dylan, but he’s winning in one arena where Adrien Brody is not.

Chalamet is, seemingly, having the time of his life. He’s everywhere, concurrently promoting the release of A Complete Unknown and running an unconventional Oscars campaign.

He’s showing up to the London premiere on a rental e-bike (and later sharing he was fined £65 for not returning it properly), to college football games in the US, and dancing in front of the Eiffel Tower. At the Tokyo premiere, he was wearing a monkey handbag he named Lil Dave.

If you’ve spent even 30 minutes on social media over the weekend, you won’t have missed the photos and videos of the young actor at Berlinale, decked out in a fairy floss pink Chrome Hearts ensemble, right down to his boots and underwear.

He was also carrying a rose because it was Valentine’s Day.

Chalamet may have walked to red carpet solo but after he sat down in the auditorium, he was joined by someone perhaps even more famous than him – his girlfriend, Kylie Jenner.

Just before the film was due to start, she slinked in next to him, a study in contrasts in her glittery black gown and slick updo to his hoodie. She touched his face and social media collectively squealed.

Having Chalamet grace your city or event is already a coup, but the combination of the 29-year-old actor and Jenner is like winning a grand slam.

The folks at the BAFTAs must thought their night was made when Chalamet brought Jenner along as his date to the ceremony, this time, dressed in matching black. Inside the Royal Festival Hall, the two were snapped holding hands, whispering to each and generally packing on the PDAs.

Jenner has been a regular fixture by Chalamet’s side as he negotiated this awards season. They were cuddly at the Santa Barbara Film Festival, she was at the Palm Springs International Film Awards and while she wasn’t spotted in the audience as he hosted Saturday Night Live in January, the two were photographed together leaving the after-party.

The big moment this year was the Golden Globes ceremony, where the two were properly smooching at their table. Chalamet may be a fantastic actor, but he’s not the most dignified kisser, which anyone can attest to if they’ve seen the photos of him and ex-girlfriend Lily-Rose Depp pashing on a yacht.

He later said he looked like a “real nob” in those images, and that it should dispel any rumours that it had been a publicity stunt - “Do you think I’d want to look like that in front of you all?”

He’s got a point. If his relationships were a set-up purely for public consumption, he’d look less awkward locking lips.

When it comes to younger movie stars, Chalamet is the go-to name for a generation that has produced few silver screen icons. Not because they’re lesser than their older counterparts, but because the economics of movies have changed with an emphasis on intellectual property and franchises being the drawcard rather than A-listers.

He’s been on screen since his teens but after he broke out in Call Me By Your Name, for which he was Oscar nominated at 22 years old, Chalamet has worked exclusively in cinema releases. That makes him a rarity today.

On the surface, Chalamet seems to be “just a guy” who likes playing basketball and video games, listening to music and goofing off.

Which is what leads to all those “Is this thing with Kylie Jenner real or is their relationship a publicity stunt?”.

The clash between his easygoing personality and Jenner’s family context of the far more calculated Kardashian clan will always raise eyebrows.

But it’s worth keeping in mind that theirs is a bi-coastal relationship – he lives in New York City and has shot his two most recent films there, and she’s in Los Angeles and also has two kids. So, maybe leading two busy, often separate lives is the key to medium-term contentment.

Plus, maybe Chalamet is just really into nepo babies. Between Jenner, Depp and a fling with Lourdes Leon, as in, Madonna’s daughter, while they were both studying at the Fiorello H. LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts, he has form.

In the meantime, the Chalamet-Jenner pairing is delightful fodder for social media where every new spotting, whether at awards ceremonies or in the wild (disembarking a private jet, date night at the cinemas, at a Beyonce concert), crowns them as every very-online young person’s favourite power couple.
