Hugh Jackman, Sutton Foster reportedly engaged less than three years after Deborra-Lee Furness split

A year since Hugh Jackman and Broadway actress Sutton Foster took their relationship public, new reports suggest the couple have already made plans to marry and are “head over heels in love”.

The New York-based pair enjoyed a sunny getaway in Costa Rica over the new year break, where New Idea claims the Wolverine star spontaneously popped the question.

“It wasn’t a shock to Sutton as it’s something they’ve been talking about,” a source told the publication.

“But Hugh did get down on one knee and she is in the possession of a diamond solitaire she’ll show off when they’re ready.”

It is believed Jackman, 57, and Foster, 50, have already begun searching for a wedding location, with the central American nation a potential suitor.

During their escape from the US winter, images surfaced of the couple entering the surf at sunset and sharing a loving embrace while the waves washed over them.

The insider said the pair “are taking every cheeky few days they get, to try out different places and see if it would make for the perfect wedding or honeymoon venue”.

Jackman was previously married to Australian actress Debora-Lee Furness for 27 years, finalising his divorce in June last year following their public separation in September 2023.

However, Foster’s divorce from screenwriter Ted Griffin has not yet been locked away after she filed in October 2024.

It’s understood the pair are waiting for the legal runway to be cleared before officially planning any nuptials.

“Hugh’s also told his team to keep a big window open in his schedule at the same time, so that he and Sutton can tie the knot and have a honeymoon tour of Europe, where they can see his mum,” the source added.

“They want a small intimate wedding, in the late (US) spring or early summer.”

The insider claimed “Hugh’s never been happier” and that the pair are “head over heels in love”.

Rumours of Jackman and Foster’s romance emerged well before they took their relationship public in January 2025.

Spending extended time alongside one another during their time on Broadway’s The Music Man in 2021, the pair regularly slung playful remarks back and forth on social media, while regularly appearing arm-in-arm during their promotional tour.

“This man. An honuor to be by your side. You. Are. The. BEST,” Foster wrote to social media in February 2022.

While Jackman gushed his co-star was “an exceptional talent and friend”.
