Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster have been spotted looking “unusually tense” as rumours circulate about the star’s ex-wife Deborra-Lee Furness requesting a meeting with the couple.

Hugh and Sutton were spotted in New York on May 26, according to New Idea, looking uneasy as they attended a couple’s workout.

Apparently in deep discussion, Hugh was seen gesturing to Sutton, who looked unimpressed as the pair walked through the city.

The appearance comes after Sutton confessed she often feels “really alone” in the acting industry while speaking on a panel for Women’s Health.

“I reached out to a lot of my contemporaries last year and a lot of the women on Broadway, and we are all usually on our own. Everyone shared the commonality of loneliness,” she said.

“Women of power can actually support each other and we don’t have to be pitted against each other. There’s room for more than just one of us.”

Australian body-language expert Christiaan Willems spoke to New Idea, saying it was obvious that there was “a conflict of some kind” between Hugh and Sutton, who were photographed looking happy in love just weeks ago at the Met Gala.

“I do not believe that that conflict lies so much within the relationship with Hugh but rather that Sutton feels somewhat internally conflicted,” Dr Willems said.

“Perhaps due to her public stance and statements about ‘successful women’s shared experience of loneliness’ – despite their success.”

Rumours have been swirling about Furness, who reportedly asked to speak with the couple to “clear the air” after it was revealed they are not on good terms.

“This isn’t about Deb being angry or wanting to read Sutton the riot act. It’s about closure,” an insider told New Idea.

“Watching Hugh and Sutton parade around the city, openly flaunting their romance and mingling with all the same people they used to socialise with as a couple, is incredibly painful and humiliating.”
