Katy Perry, Gayle King launching to space in Amazon Blue Origin all-female expedition
The all-female passenger list for Blue Origin’s upcoming rocket launch into space has been released, and it includes some big names.
Pop star Katy Perry and journalist Gayle King, Oprah Winfrey’s long-time close friend, are among six people who will be sent beyond the stratosphere.
Billionaire Blue Origin boss Jeff Bezos’ fiancee, pilot and journalist Lauren Sanchez, will also be on board.

“If you had told me that I would be part of the first-ever all-female crew in space, I would have believed you,” Perry wrote on Instagram.
“Nothing was beyond my imagination as a child.
“Although we didn’t grow up with much, I never stopped looking at the world with hopeful WONDER!
“I work hard to live my life that way still, and I am motivated more than ever to be an example for my daughter that women should take up space (pun intended).
“That’s why this opportunity is so incredible — so that I can show all of the youngest & most vulnerable among us to reach for the stars, literally and figuratively. I am honored to be among this diverse group of celestial sisters”
Ms Sanchez brought the team of soon-to-be space explorers together.
“She is honored to lead a team of explorers on a mission that will challenge their perspectives of Earth, empower them to share their own stories, and create lasting impact that will inspire generations to come,” Blue Origin said in a statement.
Blue Origin has scheduled the flight for the US spring, however, a concrete date has not been sent.
