KPop Demon Hunters took the world by storm in 2025 after the Sony film hit Netflix, so it is no surprise it is taking the awards circuit by storm too.

At the Golden Globes 2026, the film’s biggest hit song Golden won Best Original Song.

Accepting the award, singer and writer Kim Eun-jae, professionally known as Ejae, broke down.

“When I was a little girl I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fulfil one dream, to become a K-pop idol,” Ejae, who is the singing voice of Rumi from the movie, said.

“I was rejected and disappointed that my voice wasn’t good enough.

“So I leaned on songs and music to get through it, so now I’m here as a singer and a songwriter,” she said.

She went on, “It’s a dream come true to be part of a song that’s helping other girls and other boys and everyone of all ages to get through their hardships, to accept themselves.”

“So thank you, Golden Globes, for accepting my voice and our voice,” she added.

The star, who became a trainee at SM Entertainment when she was just 11, broke down in tears at finally being accepted.

Ejae trained with the controversial SM Entertainment for almost 10 years. After that time, she was not approved to perform or debut as either a soloist or as part of a group.

After taking a break from the K-Pop training facility, Ejae went to the United States where she studied before getting her break as a song writer.

At first, her breakthrough was mainly with South Korean singers. However, after being cast as the singer voice of Rumi in KPop Demon Hunters, Ejae’s voice had gone number one in multiple counties all around the world.

Ejae dedicated her award at the Golden Globes 2026 to the “people who have had doors closed on them.”

“I can confidently say rejection is redirection,” Ejae said.

“Never give up, it’s never too late to shine like you were born to be.”
