Kath and Kim star Magda Szubanski has shared an emotional message from her hospital bed as she undergoes treatment for a fast-moving blood cancer.

In a video posted to Instagram, the beloved actor and comedian thanked a young fan for brightening her day, candidly revealing that the chemotherapy is “smackin’ (her) around right now”.

“This is a special shout-out to little 10-year-old Annabella Willis in Adelaide,” Szubanski said.

“Darling, thank you so much for your ‘impressionation’ of Sharon Strzelecki. I’m in here having chemo, and it really cheered me up.

“I’m very touched and that was a beautiful thing to do, thank you my sweet.

“Chemo is smackin’ me around right now and you really cheered me up. Bless you, my darling,” she added in the video’s caption.

Friends of the star quickly filled the comments with messages of love and support.

“Sending all the love in the world to you, Magda darling,” wrote celebrity chef Nigella Lawson.

Model Megan Gale added, “Sending an abundance of love and strength to you, Magda,” while British comedian and actor Dawn French simply wrote, “Love love love x.”

Annabella’s mother Rachel told The Advertiser that the family was left a “blubbering mess” when they heard that Szubanski had seen her daughter’s impression.

Szubanski was diagnosed with stage four Mantle Cell Lymphoma in May. She has been receiving “world-class care” in Melbourne after it was discovered incidentally via a breast screening.

The 64-year-old was recently inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame and brought the room to tears with her heartbreaking speech.

“The love and support that I have felt, like a tsunami, from the Australian public, it has been overwhelming and I have to tell you, it really helps.

She broke down in tears as she thanked those around her for their support.

“I did not think I was going to cry,” she said.

“When I go online and look at those messages, every time, my heart lifts. And I feel that much stronger to deal with the cancer.

“So thank you for the love that you are pouring my way, I really feel it.”
