Meghan Markle has used her first-ever podcast interview to speak about where her relationship with Prince Harry is at now and finally address one of the longest-running rumours about her potential political ambitions.

The Duchess of Sussex firmly dismissed speculation about entering politics during the conversation with friend Jamie Kern Lima.

Meghan has previously engaged in advocacy, including 2021 outreach to US Congress members about paid parental leave and now she’s been asked to address whether or not she has political aspirations.

“Would you ever run for office?” Kern Lima asked.

Meghan replied: “No.”

The host pressed: “Never?”

Meghan reiterated: “No,” before adding: “Never. Oh, God. I mean, you could say never, say never. No, I’m not interested in that. No.”

Meghan’s latest business venture is her own podcast Confessions of a Female Founder, which she has been promoting on her Instagram, posting “So grateful for the love and support! Keep listening to ‘Confessions of a Female Founder’ anywhere you get your podcasts.”

Elsewhere in the interview, Meghan became emotional discussing her family. “H (Harry), that man loves me so much and you know, look what we’ve built, we’ve built. We have built a beautiful life and we have two healthy beautiful children,” she said tearfully.

She compared Prince Harry’s protective nature to Super Mario Bros video game: “I always think about it, when you get the end of Super Mario Bros, the final level and what’s the goal in Super Mario,” Meghan said.

“It’s to slay the dragons and save the princess. And that’s my husband – he’s out there constantly doing whatever he can to make sure our family is safe and protected, and that we are uplifted – and still make time for date nights.”

The couple’s relationship faced immediate public scrutiny, Meghan noted: “You have to imagine, at the beginning it’s all butterflies, but then we immediately went into the trenches together. Right out of the gate, like six months into dating.”

She added they now enjoy a belated “honeymoon period”.

“So now seven years later, when you have a little bit of breathing space, you can just enjoy each other in a new way. And that’s why I feel like it’s more of a honeymoon period for us now.”
