“Weekends With Adele” became one of the highest-grossing and highest-drawing residencies in Las Vegas history, making Adele one of their biggest acts of all-time.

A Brazilian judge has ordered that Adele’s 2015 hit Million Years Ago be pulled worldwide from radio and streaming services following a copyright claim by a Brazilian composer.

Judge Victor Torres made the decision on Friday, in Rio de Janeiro’s 6th Commercial Court, the Agence France Presse reported.

The injunction threatens the Brazilian subsidiaries of Adele’s two labels, Sony Music Entertainment and Universal Music, with a fine of up to $US8000 ($A12,800) “per act of non-compliance”.

Sony and Universal can still appeal this decision.

Torres’ injunction, obtained by AFP on Monday, ruled the labels must stop “immediately and globally, from using, reproducing, editing, distributing or commercialising” the hit.

“It is a landmark for Brazilian music, which .. has often been copied to compose successful international hits,” he said.

Million Years Ago appeared on Adele’s 25 album in 2015, however the UK star has been accused of lifting from the samba classic Mulheres, by Martinho Da Vila.

The song’s composer Toninho Geraes first sued Adele and her music producer Greg Kurstin in 2021.

Geraes is suing for lost royalties, $US160,000 in moral damages, plus songwriting credit on Adele’s track.

Sony Brazil said it did “not have a statement at this time”, while Universal Music Brazil did not immediately respond to AFP’s request for comment.

Adele is yet to respond to the ruling.

“It’s been wonderful and I will miss it terribly, and I will miss you terribly,” she said on November 23.

“The only thing I’m good at is singing. I just don’t know when I want to next come on stage but I love you.”

Adele said her decision to do a residency rather than tour was driven by her 11-year-old son Angelo, whom she shares with ex-husband Simon Konecki.

“I chose to do a residency so I could keep his life normal,” she said, adding that she was looking forward to spending her weekends with him again.

The proud mum addressed her son directly adding: “I love you to bits”.

She went on to address her partner, sports agent Rich Paul, thanking him for “always picking me up and making me feel like I could do whatever I want to do”.

Adele first announced her residency in December 2021.

“See you at Caesars in Vegasss ✨,” she wrote on Instagram and posted a residency poster and a photo of herself performing.

It was famously postponed a day before the first concert in January 2022, telling fans in a teary video that “my show ain’t ready” .

“We’ve tried absolutely everything that we can to put it together in time and for it to be good enough for you but we’ve been absolutely destroyed by delivery delays and COVID,” she said at the time.
