American rapper Tory Lanez — who is serving time in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in the foot — was rushed to hospital on Monday morning after being stabbed 14 times by another inmate.

The 32-year-old was reportedly attacked with a shank in a unit at the California Correctional Institute about 7.20am.

California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation spokesperson Pedro Calderon Michel said staff “immediately responded, activated 911 and began medical aid”.

A statement posted to Lanez’s official Instagram account said that he had to be placed on a breathing apparatus immediately after the assault but was now breathing on his own.

“Tory was stabbed 14 times — including seven wounds to his back, four to his torso, two to the back of his head and one to the left side of his face,” the statement read.

“Despite being in pain, he is talking normally, in good spirits and deeply thankful to God that he is pulling through.”

An investigation into the attack is underway but no motive has been determined.

Lanez is serving a 10-year prison sentence after he was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020 as they left an LA party.

He was convicted of assault with a firearm, illegal possession of a firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm.
