The veteran newsman passed away last October, following a battle with Alzheimer’s disease.

George truly was a trailblazer....and one of the nicest people I’ve ever interviewed.

A fitting tribute.

Vibe check: how are we all feeling about the awards so far?

It’s all shaping up pretty much as expected.

ABC must be pleased they’ve scored so many gongs - Nine are also doing well.

But now we’re getting to the pointy end, and all those big acting awards are going to start coming thick and fast.

Side note: who else was feeling all misty-eyed over that gorgeous Magda Szubanski tribute? Gosh, she really is the GOAT.

Ooh, we’re back: check back in later, yeah?

Glen Butcher wins Best Supporting Actor

This marks the third Logie for Fisk tonight.

Glen’s just pleased he’s not in the ‘In Memorium’ segment of the show!

Side note: we’re LOVING those yellow sneakers. And the fact he thanked Ballina in NSW.

He’s right, it IS a lovely town!

Julia Zemiro wins a Logie!

Magda’s speech a tearjerker

The TV great couldn’t be at the event in person tonight but she sent in a recored video message that has brought guests and viewers to tears.

“I do have a good excuse this time, normally I don’t come because I can’t be bothered getting out of my pyjamas. This time there really is a reason.

“I want to say first of all, let’s get this out of the way, I have not been awarded this honour because I have the cancer, like I am getting this because of 40 years of hard work.”

“The love and support that I have felt, like a tsunami, from the Australian public, it has been overwhelming and I have to tell you, it really helps.

“I did not think I was going to cry.

“When I go online and look at those messages, every time, my heart lifts. And I feel that much stronger to deal with the cancer. So thank you for the love that you are pouring my way, I really feel it.”
