George truly was a trailblazer....and one of the nicest people I’ve ever interviewed.
A fitting tribute.
Vibe check: how are we all feeling about the awards so far?
It’s all shaping up pretty much as expected.
ABC must be pleased they’ve scored so many gongs - Nine are also doing well.
But now we’re getting to the pointy end, and all those big acting awards are going to start coming thick and fast.
Side note: who else was feeling all misty-eyed over that gorgeous Magda Szubanski tribute? Gosh, she really is the GOAT.
Ooh, we’re back: check back in later, yeah?

Glen’s just pleased he’s not in the ‘In Memorium’ segment of the show!

Messages of love for Magda flow in
Fellow celebrities have sent messages of love and praise to the talented actress and comedian.
Kylie Minogue: “Magda that you are receiving such a prestigious awards that you are one of the smartest humans. I just want to kiss you so hard you would have a pash rash all over you.”
Rebel Wilson: “Thank you so, so much for paving a way for female comic performers like myself. You are the best of the best.”
American actress Melissa McCarthy also praised her wit and legendary personality.
Magda’s speech a tearjerker
The TV great couldn’t be at the event in person tonight but she sent in a recored video message that has brought guests and viewers to tears.
“I do have a good excuse this time, normally I don’t come because I can’t be bothered getting out of my pyjamas. This time there really is a reason.
“I want to say first of all, let’s get this out of the way, I have not been awarded this honour because I have the cancer, like I am getting this because of 40 years of hard work.”
“The love and support that I have felt, like a tsunami, from the Australian public, it has been overwhelming and I have to tell you, it really helps.
“I did not think I was going to cry.
“When I go online and look at those messages, every time, my heart lifts. And I feel that much stronger to deal with the cancer. So thank you for the love that you are pouring my way, I really feel it.”
The magic of Magda
Magda Szubanski has been inducted into the Logies Hall of Fame for her contribution to Australian television.
The 64-year-old is best known for winning the hearts of Aussies as Sharon Strzelecki in Kath and Kim.

It comes after Szubanski announced in May she had stage-four mantle cell lymphoma, describing it as a “rare and fast-moving blood cancer”.
She becomes the fifth woman inducted since the award was established in 1984, joining Ruth Cracknell, Noni Hazlehurst, Kerri-Anne Kennerley and Rebecca Gibney.
