A popular indie band has cancelled its Australian tour just hours before their first show in Sydney.

Catfish and the Bottlemen, a British indie rock band, were scheduled to perform at the Hordern Pavilion on Wednesday night for the first leg of their Australian tour.

However, on Wednesday morning, Ticketek emailed punters to advise the show had been cancelled.

“Catfish and the Bottlemen want to thank the fans for their support,” Live Nation said.

“This weekend they were hoping to still be able to perform, but on doctors orders they were forced to cancel their show in Dublin.”

All Australian dates this month have also been cancelled due to “band illness”.

“The band were really looking forward to these shows and sincerely apologise to everyone for any inconvenience and disappointment,” Live Nation added.

Fans of the band took to social media to share their disappointment over the last-minute cancellation.

“Catfish and the Bottlemen tour getting cancelled just ruined my life, I’m serious,” one woman said on X.

“This comeback tour has been ridiculous,” another added.

“Very sad and confusing potential end for my favourite band,” a third said.

The news comes just days after the band’s show in Dublin was cancelled.

Some 15 minutes before the band was due to take the stage on Saturday night, revellers were told the show was cancelled due to “artist illness”.
