Former NRL star and Triple M radio host Beau Ryan has weighed in on the Kyle & Jackie O fallout, predicting where Kyle Sandilands will re-emerge and who will replace the pair on KIIS.

Ryan, who joined Triple M in 2025 after a stint on KIIS Breakfast, said while the pair could theoretically return to radio, he questioned why they would.

“I don’t see Jackie O doing brekky radio again,” he said on Triple M Breakfast with Beau, Cat & Woodsy.

“She can do whatever she wants – and she would succeed in brekkie radio– but why would she? She’s got nothing to prove. She’s made serious money, and she’s been on very, very big money for a long time.

“She can work in TV, she’s proven that. People say she could do arvos, but why?

It was announced on Tuesday that Jackie O Henderson has officially quit the Kyle and Jackie O show following a tense on-air clash with controversial co-host Kyle Sandilands.

It ends a 25-year broadcast partnership that earned them a fortune. The Sydney radio duo joined forces in 1999 and in 2023, signed a 10-year, $200 million contract with KIIS FM that was meant to run until 2034.

The radio star was expected to resume her place on KIIS FM after taking time off to “gather her thoughts” following a public argument over astrology on February 20.

ARN Media, the owners of KIIS FM, confirmed on Tuesday that Henderson has given notice to the network that she “cannot continue to work with Mr Kyle Sandilands”.

“ARN has also provided written notice to Sandilands stating that it considers his behaviour during the show on February 20 as an ‘act of serious misconduct,’” the network said in a statement.

Ryan also weighed in on Sandilands’ future, hinting the shock jock could take inspiration from American radio legend Howard Stern.

“I think looking at what Karl Stefanovic has done in that sort of podcast world. But he doesn’t have to do a podcast. He could do like a Howard Stern situation. There’s a lot of Howard Stern and Kyle in each other, right? He’s a shock jock. He’s our shock jock… John Laws was our original shock jock, Kyle’s levelled up on that, and it’s much harder to do that on commercial radio.”

ARN has also offered Ms Henderson the possibility of an alternative show on the ARN network.

Who will replace Kyle and Jackie O on KIIS?

While discussing who might fill the void at KIIS FM, Ryan suggested Sophie Monk could be a leading contender, potentially paired with a high-profile co-host such as comedian Jim Jeffries.

“I think they’re going to throw everything at Sophie Monk... I think they’re going to go for Jim Jeffries. Jim gets to do whatever he wants to do. But they’ve got a situation there and I think Sophie Monk is where they’re going to go. Whether you like it or not, everyone runs off the back of Kyle & Jackie O over there. That’s gone, that’s over. I think Sophie and someone similar to Kyle,” he said.

He seemingly ruled himself out as a candidate though.

“I love it here so much. The working environment is so important, especially doing hours like this… The three of us have a good thing going here,” Ryan said.

Ryan also reflected on Sandilands’ generosity off-air, recounting the story of Kyle surprising a team member with their dream car.

“Kyle will look after you. He bought a Maybach for Alfie, who works on their show, surprising him with the car… That’s the kind of guy he is.”

Kyle and Jackie O on-air fight

During the Friday, February 20 episode, the pair were discussing the arrest of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the UK.

“I’m going to do that fixed star astrology chart on him, and see what it says,” Henderson said.

“Your fixation on this has made you almost unworkable...you were off with the fairies,” Sandilands said later on, referencing her looking up the former prince’s horoscope and starting the seven-minute argument on-air.

She said he was being unfair, and he continued on to say she was “not doing the rest of the job, and everyone in the building has mentioned it to me”. Henderson didn’t return to work.

In 2024, Henderson, pictured left last week, revealed that she had taken time off in 2022 to deal with addiction issues. She said she went to California for a secret 28-day stint for addiction to pills and alcohol.

Henderson was reduced to tears during the segment, telling her longtime co-host she could not believe he would deliver that feedback in front of thousands of listeners.

Last week, Sandilands addressed the situation which saw Henderson take more than a week off, conceding he regretted the way he handled the criticism.

“I obviously upset her and maybe in hindsight I shouldn’t have said it on the air, but we say a lot of things on the air here,” he said.

“It’s never meant to hurt her feelings and obviously it did, and I regret hurting her feelings. No one wants to hurt someone, especially someone you care for.”

Sandilands, who is also a judge on Australian Idol, also confirmed the dispute hadn’t been staged for publicity.
