Mark Geyer lands three-year deal with 2GB after getting the axe from long-time station Triple M
Former NRL great Mark ‘MG’ Geyer will return to the Sydney radio waves months after he was unceremoniously dumped by Triple M.
The Penrith Panthers premiership-winning legend has found a new home with rival network 2GB (Nine Radio).
The station announced Geyer’s new three-year deal on Wednesday, which included weekly features on Nine’s Wide World of Sports and The Continuous Call Team as well as co-hosting a new drive time program with Clinton Maynard.

The move sparked fierce backlash from loyal listeners, appalled that one of their long-time favourite voices got the chop.
The 57-year-old stayed mum on his departure for weeks afterwards but offered the new team the “best of luck” when probed on the issue by The Daily Telegraph in December. He did tease at the time, however, that “a lot of opportunities” had come knocking since his exit.
He took to Instagram to announce his “next chapter” to his fans.
“More than excited to be joining (2GB) for the next three years,” he wrote.
“I appreciate the confidence shown in me by station bosses Tommy Malone and Luke Davis. I’ll be doing a number of things at the station in various time slots and appearing weekly on the Continuous Call Team. Cannot wait! Bring on 25!!”
Mr Davis, content director for the station said the station was excited to welcome MG to the “Nine radio family”.
“MG is a league legend, an experienced media personality, a business owner, a voice of Western Sydney — and never short of an opinion,” he said.
Appearing on 2GB Breakfast on Wednesday, where host Ben Fordham announced his new 2GB colleague live on-air, Geyer said he was “excited” about his “new beginning” at the top-rated Sydney station.
“You’re going to see my face around this building a lot,” MG told Fordham.
He said the timing of the move was ideal and allowed him to focus on his Penrith-based gym, MG Active, but keep involved in broadcast — without the early-morning wake-ups.
“I can train people in the morning, talk to Clinton (Maynard) in the afternoon, and then be completely cuckoo with the boys over the rugby league.”
His co-host, Maynard, was announced last week as the 2GB drive shift replacement for journalist Chris O’Keefe, who stood down from the program at the end of 2024.
Geyer will join fellow NRL icons Darryl “The Big Marn” Brohman, Mark ‘Piggy’ Riddell, Josh Morris and host and lead commentator, Mark Levy on Continuous Call Team.
