Singer Casey Donovan announces engagement to long-time girlfriend Renee Sharples
Casey Donovan has announced she is engaged to long-time girlfriend Renee Sharples.
The singer revealed the big news on Instagram on Friday, sharing a set of photos from Tasmania’s Pumphouse Point in which she is nestled close to Sharples, the pair rugged up in thick puffer jackets, as she flaunts her engagement ring.
“21.06.24 on the strawberry moon of the winter solstice the love of my life asked me if I wanted to do this life together forever.

The ring was created by Sydney jeweller, Mondial by Nadia, Donovan revealed in the post.
Donovan, who will star in the stage musical version of Sister Act, beginning next month in Sydney, first met Sharples in 2020, when they matched on dating app Bumble during the pandemic, and the pair enjoyed a number of Zoom dates together.
Donovan’s friends and fans leapt into the comments to send their best wishes.
“Congratulations gorgeous,” singer Ricki-Lee wrote.
“Congratulations to you both,” the official account of Juliet the musical wrote.
“How beautiful! Congratulations to you both,” Angela Bishop wrote.
Donovan first announced she was in a relationship and “in love” in early 2021.
Speaking to Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies on The Morning Show, she called her partner “the real deal,” adding that the relationship had inspired her to write new music.
The interview came a day after Donovan shared a special tribute to her new flame on Valentine’s Day, posting a photo of a bunch of red roses that Sharples had given her.
“She said she was going to get stuff for Breakfast & came back with these … she’s a bit cute!” Donovan wrote.
“Thank you @nayray.sharp for all the days we get to spend together, even tho’ we said we weren’t getting each other anything.”
Donovan told Woman’s Day in a July 2021 interview that she had been nervous to start dating again after she was “catfished” for many years and convinced she was in a relationship with a man named Campbell — who turned out to have been conjured up by a female friend she referred to as “Olga”.
“It’s always nerve-racking because I do have a catfish background and I find it hard to trust people,” she admitted.
But she added that Sharples had quickly put her mind at ease.
“It was so nice to know that our sense of humour was the same,” she said after their first online date.
“We couldn’t wipe the smiles off our faces.”
