Reality star Jules Robinson has clapped back at a flood of internet trolls who targeted the former Married At Frist Sight contestant over her “too small” Melbourne Cup dress choice.

Robinson attended Flemington Racecourse on Tuesday alongside husband Cameron Merchant — whom she met while filming MAFS in 2018 — with the mother of two appearing joyful in a horizontally striped pink and green strapless dress.

However, on Wednesday, Robinson lamented the backlash she’d received from haters who’d made their disapproval of her fashion choices known to her.

“Yesterday I wore a dress that was too small for me... Pasduchas team who are so lovely kindly gifted me this beautiful dress and they had it made for me (its only pre order) it was sent to me in MELB and I hadn’t tried it on,” Robinson wrote to Instagram.

“And now the comments and DMs are pouring in... yes long DMs, like a small novel.”

Robinson was also a judge at the racecourse’s Fashions on the Field event, joining forces with Jelena Dokic, Jacqui Felgate, and Suzy Eskander in the role.

In an extended note to her followers, she revealed the extent of the abuse received, saying many trolls had even claimed to be attempting to assist the mother.

Robinson shared a snippet from one particular private message, somewhat obfuscated, which included the words “spread your fat”.

“Apparently, I ‘looked ridiculous in that dress’. My body was over-analysed, from my shoulders to my stomach, by someone who said they were just trying to ‘help,” she said.

“Here’s the thing. I didn’t wear that dress to look smaller. I wore it because I loved it. Because fashion should be about joy and fun.”

The public figure said her battle with self-confidence has spanned years and that she had taught herself not to succumb to such negativity after years in the public eye.

The mother added there was no need for “stylist advice disguised as insults”, and that she was shocked by the opinions of those unaffected by her behaviour.

“At the end of the day, it’s just a dress,” Robinson concluded.

“No one was hurt, no crimes were committee, the fashion police won’t fine me. The world won’t end because a woman wore something that was a little small.”

The entrepreneur has not shied away from publicly exposing her physique in recent years, founding fashion label FIGUR by Jules in 2020 designed to empower women of all shapes and sizes.
