How can we make our outdoor spaces feel fresh and inviting?
Declutter, add lots of plants, an umbrella to shelter from the summer sun, some new throw cushions on seating, and lanterns or candles that have the double benefit of looking stylish and also keeping pesky insects at bay.
Are there any standout colour schemes or combinations that are particularly popular this summer for entertaining?
Joyful yet calming colours inspired by nature are in right now.
Tones inspired by the Australian coast like soft pink, eucalyptus green, sea foam blue, and neutral sand are all on trend.
When it comes to outdoor furniture, what are some must-have pieces for hosting summer gatherings?
Outdoor furniture needs to be practical - it has to withstand the harsh Australian elements, as well as being comfortable.
Select furniture that suits the style of your garden, courtyard or balcony, and also suits the size of the space.
So often you see enormous modular outdoor sofas and a big table in a small space, meaning you can’t move around comfortably.
How can we use lighting to create the perfect summer vibe for evening parties or dinners?
Festoon lighting strung across your outdoor space instantly creates atmosphere and a party vibe, as do fairy lights.
You don’t need a big space to do this, and in fact it will make small spaces feel larger.
Summer is the season for fresh flowers. What are your tips for incorporating florals into summer tablescapes and arrangements, and what are the best flowers to use for the season?
Seasonal flowers are best for the environment, and will also be the most economical for your hip pocket!
As above, any vessels, including re-using jam jars as vases work well to display flowers on an outdoor table.
Hanging baskets of flowers outside also look gorgeous.
Many summer gatherings have a laid-back vibe. How can we keep things relaxed yet still stylish and put together?
Tie your theme together with one or two colours so it feels cohesive, lay out boho style picnic blankets and lots of cushions in your backyard for a relaxed get-together, and serve big platters of cheese, crudite, fruit and crackers for easy entertaining.
