Sooshi Mango is an Australian comedy troupe founded in 2015.

They have just released a new cookbook of Italian recipes called ‘EAT! Mamma Knows Best’.

Serves: 4–6

Ingredients

  • 1½ tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 onions, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 500g minced (ground) beef
  • 2 × 700g bottles passata
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 3–4 fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • ¼ tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tsp sugar

Method

  1. Heat the oil in a frying pan over medium heat and sauté the onion and garlic until golden brown and fragrant.
  2. Add the beef and fry until browned.
  3. Add the remaining ingredients, bring to the boil, then reduce the heat to low.
  4. Cover the pan with a lid and simmer for one hour. Stir the sauce from time to time; if it becomes too thick, add a little water.
