A major milk brand will no longer be sold in Australian supermarkets after its supplier declared the products were “no longer competitive or profitable” in the local market.

Consumers of Almond Breeze will need to find a new plant milk alternative after suppliers Blue Diamond Growers announced it would be exiting the Australian and New Zealand market, effective immediately.

“Blue Diamond Growers appreciates and values our customer and business relationships in Australia and New Zealand, however (it) has come to a crossroads where the product offerings are no longer competitive or profitable,” a notice from April 1 read.

“While we regret any inconvenience this announcement may cause, we are eager to focus our attention on other territories where Almond Breeze remains the No.1 almond beverage with a dedicated consumer base.”

The withdrawal means several Almond Breeze products will not be restocked on Australian and New Zealand supermarket shelves — including Woolworths and Coles — once current supplies are exhausted.
