NRL legend Darren Lockyer splashes $5 million on stunning 1920s Queenslander
NRL Hall of Famer Darren Lockyer is spending up in his hometown of Brisbane after dropping more than $5 million on a renovated 1920s Queenslander.
Property records show the former Brisbane Broncos player and his wife Loren purchased the six-bedroom, four-bathroom house in New Farm earlier this month for $5.050 million.
The purchase followed the recent sale of their architecturally designed five-bedroom home in Paddington which reportedly fetched around $6.5 million.

The double-storey house on 810 square metres in New Farm had been on the market since May.
Place New Farm listing agents Aaron Woolard and Flyn Park described the fully renovated home as “one of Brisbane’s finest residences”.
New Farm is one of Brisbane’s most expensive areas.
The median sale price of a house in the suburb is $2.84 million, according to CoreLogic.
Positioned between New Farm Park and Merthyr Park, the classic Queensland-style home was fully renovated by its previous owners.
Blending historical charm with modern sophistication, the house features period details including timber floors, VJ walls and soaring ceilings.
With a 20-metre frontage and set across two levels, the large house is ideal for the Lockyers’ family of six.
The entryway opens into a spacious living area filled with natural light that flows through to the dining room and kitchen.
The kitchen has a large island bench breakfast bar and a stone splashback, with top-of-the-line appliances including a gas and induction cooktop, dual wall ovens, a double sink, a drinks station and a Zip tap.
Multiple living areas offer plenty of space for separation with a teenager’s retreat, rumpus room or children’s playroom downstairs.
The master suite includes a built-in reading nook, large wardrobes and an ensuite.
Additional bedrooms include built-in wardrobes and a luxury main bathroom has a separate bath and shower, toilet and double basins.
The property includes an in-ground swimming pool and a pool house with a living room, a kitchenette and a bathroom.
French doors open to a paved area next to the pool.
A large balcony framed by shutters to ensure privacy and airflow overlooks the backyard and swimming pool.
It’s not the only property the family has snapped up in recent years.
In February 2023, the Lockyers splashed $2.6 million on a 4.41-hectare freehold property in Crystal Creek.
Known as Crystal Creek Estate, the purchase offered an income stream via an established nursery, cafe and gift shop under a five-year lease.
The property included a four-bedroom homestead, horse stables and machinery shedding.
It is not the only property held by the Lockyers in Crystal Creek.
The couple, who wed in 2007, purchased a four-hectare equestrian property with a dressage arena, stables and electrified paddocks in 2016 for $770,000.
Lockyer, 47, retired from football in 2011 after a hugely successful NRL career that included four grand final wins, six consecutive State of Origin series wins and a World Cup across a career spanning 17 years.
