An uber-luxury Shell Cove home with its own rooftop bar and spa has changed hands and set a new residential price record for the suburb.

The home, known as ‘The Sanctuary’ is located at 1 The Promontory Drive, Shell Cove and sold earlier this week.

Selling agent, Amanda Bonnici from Ray White Shellharbour City said she couldn’t reveal the sale price when contacted by the Mercury.

However, industry sources have indicated it was more than $6 million.

The home went under the hammer earlier this week, with three registered bidders taking part. Ms Bonnici said the home eventually sold to a local buyer.

“The auction was paused, so we had to negotiate after... It was sold by about 9pm, still under auction conditions,” she said.

The result has smashed the sale price record for the suburb. The suburb’s previous residential price record was $5 million, set in May 2023.

Ms Bonnici previously told the Mercury there wasn’t a price guide available for the home.

Crafted by Innovate Architects, ‘The Sanctuary’ spans across four levels and includes seven bedrooms, six bathrooms, a study and a six-car garage. It also offers 360-degree views of the ocean and mountain landscapes.

The current owners bought the land in 2020, and set about “creating a sanctuary that meant we never had to leave”.

“We wanted to create a home that was customised to our family’s needs,” one of the owners recently told the Mercury. “We wanted to include every possible element within the design that we could think of to enjoy.

“We wanted to ensure that every decision, every selection, every detail within the home was considered and of the highest quality.”

Other standout features of the home include a library and theatre room with a 4K projector and a surround sound speaker system.

The rooftop entertainment room can be accessed via the stairs or lift and includes its own built-in bar. You can step outside onto the terrace and enjoy vistas of the ocean and escarpment, or enjoy the rooftop spa.

The seller said the large rooftop terrace was created to take in the views of the ocean and escarpment.

“We had this crazy idea to crane in a spa to relax and enjoy the surroundings,” the owner said.

On the lower outdoor level is a resort-style pool and integrated spa, featuring a waterfall edge. There’s also the privacy of your own gymnasium on the lower floor.

There’s also a separate, fully self-contained guest house.
