Jamie Durie has shared an emotional post on Instagram in the lead-up to the auction of his six-level dream home on Sydney's Northern Beaches.

The property, Belah House, at 189 Riverview Road in Avalon Beach, is listed with an auction guide of $29 million after initially hitting the market in October with guidance of $33 million.

"We will miss these incredible sunsets ... after seeing so many around the world I've never experienced better than this," Durie posted on Instagram.

"Thank you to everyone who helped us create this magical house ... we will always remember the efforts, the experience and the expertise.

"Belah House we will miss you."

It took a decade of planning and a two-year build for the gardening guru to construct the lavish six-bedroom home that he shares with his fiancee, Ameka Jane, and their two children, Beau and Nash.

The family moved into the property in early 2025 after facing "huge budget blowouts, rising interest rates, and massive construction costs".

Within six months, Durie had received an off-market offer of around $30 million to sell the sprawling mansion which is one of 24 homes on sought-after Stokes Point.

Cotality records show he purchased the site in December 2015 for $2.275 million.

The 1069-square-metre waterfront block had a retro four-bedroom beach house, with access to Pittwater and views across to West Head.

It was demolished to make way for a sustainable grand design that was built at a reported cost of $3 million.

Described by Durie as "sympathetic and responsive to the topography of the site", the six-bedroom, six-bathroom house was designed by Silvester Fuller Architects and Durie Design.

Taking in vast water views through floor-to-ceiling windows, the home features bespoke joinery with brass fixtures, high ceilings with opulent pendant lighting and a showstopping internal timber staircase in the living room.

Other features include a home cinema, geothermal heating/cooling, solar power, Smart Home automation, air purification system, heated floors, a butler's pantry, a wine cellar and a rooftop garden.

Waterfront facilities include an entertainment area with an outdoor kitchen, and a private slipway jetty.

Wellness features include a home gym, cedar outdoor ice bath, a sauna and an infinity pool.

"It's not very often you come across a home that redefines the way you think about living," listing agent James Baker said.

"This is one of the most visionary and innovative residences ever."

Durie, 55, used his green thumb to create lush gardens across every level, with hanging plants cascading down the property's exterior.

The project was documented on the Channel Seven television show Growing Home with Jamie Durie, which captured the ups and downs Durie and Ameka went through during the renovation.

An original development application (DA) was rejected over a proposal to remove 17 native trees, and sparked backlash with more than 50 objections to the Northern Beaches Council.

This proposal was scaled back to 11 trees.

According to the official site, Durie intended to build the most sustainable and luxurious home for his family.

"After 26 years making TV shows all over the world, this is the show I've always wanted to make, and if we're creating a show around sustainability, then my family and I need to do it first and practice what we preach," he said.

Durie also owns a 72-acre hobby farm in Byron Bay's hinterland, purchased for $3.625 million in 2023 which is where he plans to move with his family if Belah House finds a buyer.

"We did build this as our forever home," Durie told View last year.

"But we had a couple of great offers. We thought about it, and we looked at the children's age, and thought, 'if we don't make a change now and give them some time on the land, we're going to get trapped in the mouse wheel of private school and the city forever'.

"We're doing this for the kids really... We find the kids are different kids when they're on the farm. We want to nurture that, with nature."

Durie's latest TV show, Jamie Durie's Future House, enlists top builders and innovators to design and construct eco-friendly homes built fast and affordably.

According to Cotality, the median house value in Avalon Beach is $2.84 million.
