One of the biggest early bird airfare sales in years is now live, but it comes with a catch.

The sale is a joint effort from flight sales website Webjet and Melbourne Airport, meaning eager passengers must fly out of Melbourne to activate the 2025 sale fare.

Airlines covered in the sale include Air New Zealand, Singapore Airlines, Vietjet, Qatar, Turkish Airlines, Garuda Indonesia and Philippine Airlines.

If you’re prepared for an autumn, winter or even spring trip to Europe you’ll certainly find a bargain, with sale fares including Melbourne to Rome for $1189 flying Qatar Airways.

Flights to North America for as little as $922 haven’t been seen since before the pandemic, with return flights through Air New Zealand, stopping in Auckland, to Los Angeles and San Francisco.

The sale is subsidised by Melbourne Airport, which stands to gain from extra passengers departing its terminals by per-passenger charges that form part of an airfare.

Check out the sale before it ends September 23 at 11.59pm.
