President Trump will hold a press conference – which he has titled “Make America Wealthy Again” – on Thursday at 7am (AEDT), where he is expected to release details of the tariffs.

The major Australian industries expected to be hit are pharmaceuticals, beef, and fruit – with tariffs potentially as high as 20 per cent on goods going into the United States.

The fallout from Donald Trump’s so-called Liberation Day will dominate the next few days of the federal election.

Albanese will start the day in Melbourne, while opposition leader Peter Dutton is in Perth.
