Another 900,000 extra barrels of diesel heading to Australia
The Albanese government has revealed where some key fuel supplies are headed after confirming more shipments are en route to Australia.
Three extra shipments, or 900,000 barrels, of diesel are heading to Australia after being secured by the Federal government.
These supplies will head to South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria, with Anthony Albanese saying they will help “fuel the regional activity there which is critical to our nation.”
“In the face of global instability, we are leaving no stone unturned as we work to keep Australia moving, working and flying,” the Prime Minister said.

The shipments were secured by partnerships between the federal government’s fuel underwriting scheme, Export Finance Australia, and suppliers Ampol, Viva and IOR.
Trade Minister Don Farrell said about 600 million litres of additional diesel had been secured through Export Finance Australia since the government introduced its strategic reserve powers earlier this year.
“These shipments to South Australia, Tasmania, Queensland and Victoria are yet another positive step forward thanks to the early actions that the government has taken and we continue to focus on doing everything we can to keep Australia moving,” he said.
Energy Minister Chris Bowen said efforts to secure fuel would continue “to help Australians now while we set Australia up to better prepare for future shocks”.
Australia has 42 days of petrol, 35 days of diesel and 29 days of jet fuel.
