Prime Minister Anthony Albanese about to take stage for victory speech
We’ll bring you all the latest as it happens.
State of play: NSW
The Liberals have been swept aside in a range on seats by Labor and independents in Australia’s most populous state.
In Banks, shadow foreign minister David Coleman has lost his seat to Labor’s Zhi Soon, after a swing of almost 8 per cent against the Liberals.
In Hughes, first termer Jenny Ware has lost to Labor’s David Moncriff.
Meanwhile in two seats, the Coalition have lost two seats to Independents, with Paul Fletcher’s old seat of Bradfield falling to the teal-backed Nicolette Boele.
Former Nationals MP Andrew Gee has also hung on as an independent against a Coalition bid to win back the seat.
And sitting MP Pat Conaghan is in a fight for his political life in Cowper, where another independent, Caz Heise, has narrow the gap to just over 1000 votes.
The night hasn’t been all-good for Labor, with the Greens extending a primary vote lead over MP Justine Elliot, with the result unclear.
In Fowler, early counts also show Labor is struggling to regain the seat, with independent Dai Le 2000 votes ahead of Tu Le with a third of the vote counted.

“I have always believed that. I always will.”
Dutton pays tribute to family
The Opposition Leader turned briefly to thank his family, amid rousing applause.
“I’m blessed to have an amazing family,” he said.
“They’ve stood by me through thick and thin and I’m so grateful for their support and their love.”
Then he turns to his local electorate.
“Can I say thank you to the people of Dickson and to the amazing supporters in Dickson.
“Dickson had a one-term curse. It was only ever held for one term at a time and we’ve held it for 24 years. Which is an amazing achievement.”
Dutton: ‘It’s been a great honour to lead’
“It’s been a great honour to be leader of this amazing party for the last three years, and I want to firstly acknowledge David Littleproud, who has been a great partner in crime,” he said.
“He’s led the National Party with great distinction. He’s had the strength of character to stand up on issues which are important to us and we’ve worked incredibly well together.
“He’s done a great job and he will do into the future.
“I want to say thank you very much to Sussan Ley as my deputy and also Angus Taylor as shadow treasurer and other senior members, who have contributed to the success of the last couple of years.”
