Hours after the Iran-US conflict escalated, Donald Trump has launched a thinly veiled AI threat against Iran.

The 80-year-old world leader took to his Truth Social on Monday morning and shared two short AI-generated videos depicting the Middle Eastern nation under military bombardment.

The first clip, which was only 10 seconds long, shows the infamous Kharg Island on fire. The blaze is then seen spreading to a nearby oil tanker ship, which quickly explodes.

Trump claimed in his caption that the video depicted “Kharg Island being blown to smithereens.”

Kharg Island has become a central target by the US during the ongoing conflict, due to its role as an export terminal for 90 per cent of Iran’s oil.

Moments later, the President shared a second AI video seemingly depicting missile strikes against Iran.

In the nine-second clip, an Air Force pilot is seen inside a jet watching as a barrage of missiles hits Kharg Island.

A massive piece of debris is seen flying out of the explosion and rolling onto the ground as nearby structures burn.

The AI videos were shared just hours after two rocket launchers hit nearby Larak Island on Sunday evening.

Sunday’s escalation marks the first known strikes since late July, as the US-Iran war reached a stalemate in recent weeks.

Monday’s posts are certainly not the first time the US President has used AI online, having inundated his Truth Social page with AI-generated content in recent months.

He has made several AI posts referencing Iran’s Kharg Island since the war began, while other posts have depicted Iranian oil tankers being seized by US forces.
