Charlie Curnow has requested a trade from Carlton despite having four years remaining on his contract, with the Blues refusing his request to explore moves to Sydney or Geelong.

Carlton have asked young gun Elijah Hollands to explore a trade away from the club, 7NEWS Melbourne’s Mitch Cleary has revealed.

Hollands joined his younger brother Ollie at the Blues ahead of the 2024 AFL season and immediately became a mainstay.

But he made just five appearances this season between two bouts of personal leave.

Hollands played two VFL games in his second comeback and shared a positive outlook on the future earlier this month.

“(2025) has had a couple more downs than ups so far, however there’s been lots to learn and I’m very excited for the next chapter,” he wrote.

“Thanks to everyone who’s been lending out ongoing support!

“Pls don’t believe everything you read on social media btw.”

The post was widely celebrated by Blues fans looking ahead to 2026, the final year of Hollands’ contract.

The Game AFLW 2025

Hollands first took leave on the eve of the season before returning in Round 6 and playing five straight games.

He then stepped away again in May, before earning praise from coach Michael Voss for getting himself ready to play VFL footy upon his return to the club.

News of Hollands’ possible exit comes after Carlton delisted Orazio Fantasia, Harry Lemmey and Alex Cincotta on Thursday.

Those list decisions arrived hot on the heels of free agents Tom De Koning and Jack Silvagni confirming their intention to leave the club.

Charlie Curnow is also angling to leave the club despite the lack of an explicit trade request.

The Coleman medallist is keen on a move to Sydney or Geelong, to the extent that his management called Swans star Tom Papley’s camp in a bid to get him involved in a trade.
