Isaac Quaynor booing: Craig McRae describes Adelaide fans’ actions as ‘disappointing’

Isaac Quaynor says he heard the boos from Adelaide fans but refused to pay attention to them amid disappointing scenes at Adelaide Oval in the AFL finals opener.

Quaynor was booed by significant sections of the pro-Crows crowd during every one of his 16 touches, having spent time playing on Rankine amid the Adelaide star’s homophobic slur when the two sides clashed at the venue last month.

The Magpies defender said he largely blocked out the noise as Collingwood scored an upset 24-point victory.

“I did hear a little bit of it,” he said on SEN.

“But to be honest, I get so locked in in games, I don’t really pay much mind to anything else other than what’s on the field.”

Pies coach Craig McRae described the booing as “disappointing”.

“I’m just not a booer. I just get disappointed with that… I find that really disappointing.

“I’m really proud of him and Dan (Houston) and others.

“I’m not sure if it’s pointed. You’d have to ask the people that booed in the crowd.”

It came as Adelaide coach Matthew Nicks opted not to comment when asked about the booing post-game.

“It’s not one for me to comment on,” Nicks said.
