After WA’s own flagbearer Nina Kennedy led the Aussies into The Hydro in Glasgow for the opening ceremony, the real action is set to get going from later afternoon Perth time.
We’ll be blogging across the entire evening, night and early morning (WA time) to keep you across the latest!

Iona into the final
West Aussie Ioan Anderson finished with a courageous 2.09.88 in the third heat of 200m backstroke.
She finished second fastest and paced herself well early, holding a sizeable lead at the 100m mark but was pipped by Scotswoman Holly McGill in the closing stretch.
Her time will move her into the final regardless.
With her promising time, there is currently a plethora of Australian talent that are eyeing off finals.
Jenna jets on
Jenna Forrester jetted to the finish line in her second heat for the win.
Catching Scotland’s Katie Shanahan with a 2.10.03 finish to move on.
Women’s follow up!
The Aussie women’s 3x3 basketball squad have followed up on the men’s efforts - trouncing Kenya for a comfortable 21-5 win.
Emma Clarke led the way for the Gangurrus with a game-high nine points.
Next up on the half courts is the wheelchair squads, where West Aussie Ebony Stevenson will face England.
Pallister’s promising start
Lani Pallister has made an immediate impression in Glasgow!
The gold medal favourite cruises to the second-fastest heat time in 4.06.88, despite taking her foot well off the gas toward the end after doing what needed to be done.
New Zealand’s Erika Fairweather pipped that time with 4.06.42, while Aussie Jenna Forrester was the third-fastest.
Aussies primed in the pool
The first two heats of the women’s 400m are in the book, but now, we get to the Aussie contingent in the last two.
Amelia Weber is in Heat 3, and then Lani Pallister and Jenna Forrester in the following heat.
Meanwhile, it was a 21-5 shellacking in the women’s 3x3 as the Aussies predictably took care of Kenya.
First win!
That’s it for the Aussie men’s 3x3 basketball unit - recording a comfortable 21-15 win in their opener against the Kiwis. WA’s Jonah Antonio contributed with an equal game-high eight points.
Next up it’s the Aussie women in action in the half-court, with Amy Atwell set to lead the charge in their opener against Kenya. Expect that one to be an emphatic result...
Swimming primer
There’s no shortage of action to get us started on Day 1, but as always, most Aussies eyes will be directed toward the pool, where medals aplenty surely await.
The first of the heats in the morning session begin shortly at 5.30pm WA time, with the women’s 400m freestyle - and big hope Lani Pallister - lead the Australian charge.

3x3 basketball
The Aussies are underway early in 3x3 basketball action - and it’s Wildcats veteran Jesse Wagstaff who’s leading the side in the half-court battle against New Zealand.
Australia hold an 11-9 lead in the early stages, with their side also including fellow West Aussie Jonah Antonio.
