Australia v Bangladesh live scores: Hosts aiming to bounce back from embarrassing first day in Darwin

A ball change in the final over before lunch did not bring a change in luck for Australia.

Bangladesh rammed home their advantage in the first session of the second day in Darwin and have headed into lunch only 17 runs in arrears, with eight wickets still remaining.

Opener Tanzid Hasan has grown in confidence throughout his 74 not out and their captain Najmul Hossain Shanto (28 not out) has ensured the loss of Mominul Haque for 49 was no major setback.

Meanwhile, Australia look bereft of answers on a pitch not nearly offering as much assistance as it was yesterday amid a less-humid day in Darwin.

Cam Green has been introduced for the first time today and Bangladesh look eager to take him on.

Their captain Najmul Hossain Shanto sublimely drove him down the ground to the boundary before following up with a vicious pull shot to collect four more.

But it doesn’t look particularly likely at the moment, with Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan (71 not out) continuing to rocket along.

Pat Cummins waited until just about 90 minutes had elapsed on the second day, but has now introduced his off-spinner Nathan Lyon into the attack.

And he immediately created a chance Steve Smith could not cling onto at slip, although a deflection from the gloves of Alex Carey made it tough.
