Big Bash League final recap: Perth Scorchers battle Sydney Sixers for sixth title
The Perth Scorchers have grabbed yet another piece of silverware after trouncing the Sixers at Optus Stadium. Recap how it all went down here!

Cricket: The Perth Scorchers and Sydney Sixers are the Big Bash’s titans and the pair clash again in what is set to be another classic finale.
The Scorchers got the job done in Tuesday’s Qualifier in Perth as they saw off a red-hot Steve Smith.
But after the men in magenta powered past reigning champions Hobart Hurricanes in Friday night’s Challenger, they bring good form back to Optus Stadium.
Stay up to date with our live blog, with play to begin at 4.15pm WA time.

BAT FLIP: Scorchers win and will CHASE!
Scorchers 0-22 as Smith comments on rain
Marsh bangs a couple to the boundary and Perth have taken the sting out of this chase already, seemingly!
Starc back. Light rain making a return here... very light for now, thankfully. We need 5 overs to constitute a match.
Steve Smith is doing his best to force the delay...
After 2 overs: Scorchers 0-12
Finn Allen goes past David Warner as the tournament’s leading runscorer this summer.
The Scorchers navigate one of Starc’s four overs successfully. Starc had a delivery in excess of 147km/h in there. But couldn’t break through.
Jack Edwards at the other end now.
After 1 over: Scorchers 0-8
Marsh survives a review for LBW, with the ball shown to be going just over and just sliding down leg.
Eight off the first over. Required rate 6.58. Mitchell Starc time...
MARSH GOES BANG!
SIX OFF THE FIRST BALL OF THE CHASE!
Marsh dispatches Sean Abbott, clearing the man at deep square by a few metres. Wow. Unreal start for the Scorchers as they hunt a small total.
Chase about to begin
As the Jungle Giants finish up a set during the innings break, the Scorchers are looking to confirm their status as BBL Giants with a chase of 133 here.
Can Finn Allen and Mitch Marsh give them a blazing start to help make light work of it? Or will Mitchell Starc have a say early? We’re moments away from resuming as the players wander out.
END OF INNINGS: Sixers held to just 132!
Advantage, Scorchers!
Perth are well on top at the midway point after dominating with ball in hand.
From the moment they extracted Steve Smith, Perth have had the momentum and refused to let it go.
Payne was superb with his 3-18. Richardson impactful with 3-32. Beardman chipped in with a couple of wickets, and don’t sleep on Hardie taking the key scalp of Smith.
It’s a small chase for such a stacked Scorchers batting line-up, albeit on a pitch where batting hasn’t appeared easy. But the trophy is theirs to lose from here.
One over to go: Sixers 7-127
Richardson’s over includes a no-ball free hit, but he gets out of it beautifully with a couple of dots. The Scorchers’ slower-ball success continues.
3-32 for Richardson. Beardman to finish us up.
GOT HIM! DAVIES GOES
... and that’s all for Davies! Richardson scatters his stumps as he plays on!
A valuable 19 to give the Sixers SOMETHING to defend, but at 7-121 with 11 balls left, it’s looking very thin. Ben Dwarshius comes in looking to sock some dingers.
After 18 overs: Sixers 6-120
That’s the end of a brilliant spell from Payne. 3-18 from his four. The second-best by a Scorcher in a final, behind AJ Tye’s 3-18.
Richardson back to finish his spell and bowl the penultimate over. Davies has made his way to 19 off 13...
Another catch controversy
David Payne has his FOURTH - or does he?
Another strange sequence as the Scorchers celebrate a Connolly catch in the deep, with a brilliant diving effort - but Davies ultimately gets recalled after a lengthy look at the replay.
Connolly used the grass to ground the ball at the very last moment, despite being in complete control. It’s not dissimilar to the Ashton Turner one from a few weeks prior.
The Scorchers crowd does NOT like the call when it’s shown on the big screen, and boos ring out! A break for the visitors!
