Border-Gavaskar Trophy: Live coverage of day three from the Gabba between Australia and India
Australia are looking to press home their advantage on day three against India at the Gabba! Follow the latest news and updates here.
Back in business
We’re back underway!
Rishabh Pant is the new man and has an immediate impact, clipping one off his toes for three straight up.
India are 3-26, with Rahul anchoring the innings so far with 14 from 27.
LUNCH
An early lunch has been called with India 3-22, and fingers crossed we’ll be clear to resume straight after.
Starc (2-11) and Hazlewood (1-11) have produced a searing new-ball spell here, and it’s given Australia a significant advantage should they get enough time to produce a result around all this weather.
The scheduled restart time is 10.55am (WA time) - we’ll be back then!
RAIN DELAY
It’s raining wickets at the Gabba - but it’s also raining droplets from the sky.
We’re off again, and it’ll come as a great relief to the tourists as they look to regroup. This Test - and tour - is quickly going sour for India.
OUT! KOHLI GOES!
Hazlewood strikes at the other end, and he’s got the former skipper!
Kohli has to go for just 3 after prodding at one outside off and only succeeding in feathering an edge to Carey.
That’s 3-22 and India are officially in strife at the Gabba!
Scary Starc
Starc’s threatening again here, with Kohli and KL Rahul doing well to keep him out.
He gets one in particular to rise sharply, with this pitch doing a couple of kooky things every now and again to keep the batters honest.
It’s 2-21 as Hazlewood continues at the other end.
AND ANOTHER!
Again it’s caught Mitch, bowled Mitch!
Gill is the batter this time, gone for one attempting a big drive to one that was full and wide. He steers an edge to a flying Marsh at gully, who takes a RIPPER.
India are 2-6 and in all sorts as Kohli comes to the crease!
OUT! JAISWAL GOES!
Starc has the early breakthrough once again!
After a peach first up that drew the outside edge for four, Starc draws a chip to Marsh in front of square leg and Jaiswal has to go!
It’s a soft one for the man who was so good in the second innings in Perth, but it’s a dream start for Australia. It’s 1-4 as Gill wanders to the wicket.
We’re back... again!
Jaiswal and Rahul stride to the wicket and we’re about to resume. Starc has the ball in hand for Australia.
Another delay
But only a short one, thankfully!
Play will resume at 9.30am (WA time) after another shower caused the square to be covered during the innings break.
ALL OUT 445
That’s it and that’s all!
Carey holes out to deep mid wicket for 70 to give Deep a long-awaited scalp after toiling for almost 30 overs.
It’s a big total for Australia - and they’ve never lost a Test at the Gabba when scoring in excess of 350 in an innings.
Can they make a breakthrough or two before lunch?
