Record looming?

This is now Australia’s second-highest partnership for the third wicket in Tests at the Gabba.

It trails only Don Bradman and Lindsay Hassett’s 276 against England all the way back in 1946.

Smith is now up to 90... and it’s 3-285.

200 partnership

The stand is worth 201 and counting!

Comfortably Australia’s largest of the series, and it’s now put the home side in a strong position.

Just four overs until we see Bumrah with the new ball in what India will be hoping gives them a much-needed shot in the arm. It’s 3-277.

3-261

27 runs in just three overs since the restart signals Australia’s intentions to move this match along after losing so much time to rain yesterday.

Smith has pressed along to 74. Can he snap his 24-innings century drought, which is the longest of his career?

Head is up to 120 and is riding his luck a little...

Resumption time

We’re back in business as the Aussies look to press home their advantage in this final session!

Head is on 103 and Smith 65, with the second new ball 10 overs away. Can the home side cash in before what could be a challenging period then?

A note on Travis Head...

Australia have won their past seven Tests where Head has hit a century - and he’s been Player of the Match in all seven of them.

Will we see it be eight from eight by the time this match is done?

TEA: Australia 3-234

That’s a brilliant session for Australia.

Head locks away his ton with minutes to spare before the break and remains there on 103, while Steve Smith (65no) has been more circumspect but will be eyeing his own triple-figure score.

India will be desperate for a breakthrough or two upon resumption in 20 minutes! Join us thenn.

100 UP!

That’s a superb ton for Travis Head!

It comes off just 115 balls and he’s elated, with the same helmet-dangling-on-bat celebration from Adelaide.

Tons in back-to-back Tests for the first time in his 51-match career. He’s at the peak of his powers.

Australia motor on to 3-231 in the final few minutes before tea.

Head rolling

Meanwhile, Travis Head is quietly - or actually very loudly - hammering toward a century!

He’s up to 88 as he continues to peel off boundaries, with just 105 balls faced. He’s playing a different sport to most of Australia’s batting line-up at the moment.

After his 140 in Adelaide, Head is now within touching distance of back-to-back Test hundreds for the first time in his career. There’s 20 minutes to go until the tea break in Brisbane.

Chris Robinson

50 up for Smith!

Steve Smith reaches a very important half-century milestone off 128 balls.

It’s a subdued, muted reaction from the champ. He’s got bigger fish to fry today - and hopefully tomorrow - but he’ll bank this one for now.

It’s just the second time in his past 14 innings that he’s reached 50. Australia tick along to 3-191.

Siraj in the spotlight

Mohammed Siraj attracted plenty of headlines in Adelaide - and he’s among the action once again in Brisbane.

He had a funny moment earlier when he switched the bails at the non-striker’s end in the middle of an over in an attempt to get his luck to change - only for Marnus Labuschagne to switch them back as he walked back to his mark.

Now, he’s back on but has been blasted by Seven’s Simon Katich after bowling to where his field WAS - not IS - for a Travis Head short ball that gets skied to third man:

“That is unbelievable from Mohammed Siraj. Because the over before, he had a man right in that spot and then he’s run in and bowled what they were planning without the fielder there. That is dumb. Dumb cricket. They had a man right in that spot for this very plan to Travis Head and then he doesn’t have the fielder. Now he’ll put the fielder back down there right now. The horse has bolted buddy.”
