Follow live: Australia look to get better of India and overcome rain on day four of Third Test in Brisbane
Will the weather hold out long enough to give Australia the chance to tear through India in Brisbane?
Stay across the latest from the Gabba here!
Hazlewood back out there
Good news: Josh Hazlewood is back out in the field!
He doesn’t yet have the ball in hand, but hopefully it’s a positive sign that he’s not suffered any injury setback.
Rahul has pressed on to 45 thanks to a lovely square drive, and India have navigated the first 25 minutes without incident here. It’s 4-73.
Hazlewood concern
There’s some degree of worry around Josh Hazlewood, who is not on the field to begin Day 4.
Hazlewood bowled in the day’s warm-ups, but has been replaced in the field by Josh Inglis to open proceedings here.
The paceman bowled five overs yesterday upon return from a side strain that kept him out of the Adelaide Test.
Starc has taken the ball at the other end from Cummins, and India are 4-55.
DROPPED!
Steve Smith may not drop an easier catch in his career!
Rahul pokes off the back foot first ball and it flies toward Smith, who spills a regulation chance at waist height. Came straight to him. That’s a bizarre one.
Underway!
We’re back in action at the Gabba.
Rahul is on strike to face Pat Cummins. Can the Aussies make some early inroads and expose India’s lower order early in the day?
State of play
As the teams complete their final warm-ups, a reminder of where we’re at!
India are 4-51 in reply to Australia’s 445, with KL Rahul steering the way with 33 and Rohit Sharma yet to score from six balls.
After the Aussies were forced to bowl a couple of overs of Nathan Lyon and Travis Head in poor light before play was called off yesterday evening, they’re likely to go straight back to Mitchell Starc (2-25) and Josh Hazlewood (1-17) to open proceedings here.
The ball is only 17 overs old, after all!
Welcome
Hello and welcome to what will hopefully be a less frustrating day than yesterday!
Australia will be desperate for the opportunity to further press home their advantage, and the forecast looks more promising than yesterday.
We’re right for a 7.50am (WA time) start, and although there are still showers forecast, there’s hope that the windows of playing time will be much more extended. What’s more, there’s some heat around!
