Australia will have to get to the T20 World Cup semifinals the hard way after a remarkable upset at the hands of Afghanistan.

Recap the events of the stunning upset below.

Chris Robinson

After 10 overs: Afghanistan 0-64

We’ll take a break at midway, with the surprising status of Australia being wicketless through the first 10 overs.

There’s been plenty of turn on show, which bodes well for the likes of Afghanistan star Rashid Khan later on.

Afghanistan have played it fairly conservatively, but they’ve given themselves a foothold and a platform from which to launch from here.

Can they push north of 165-170 to set up a testing chase for the Aussies?

Chris Robinson

After 9 overs: Afghanistan 0-56

Four off the Maxwell over is followed by four off the Zampa over as Australia’s spinners tighten things a little. The former to continue

Chris Robinson

After 8 overs: Afghanistan 0-52

Maxwell races through his over as usual. Zampa to continue.

Afghanistan projected to be scoring around 160+, which would loom as a testing chase for the favourites on this deck...

Chris Robinson

After 7 overs: Afghanistan 0-48

Gurbaz strikes one clean down the ground as a highlight of that over... and the Aussies are still wicketless after 7!

Zampa to be followed by Maxwell, with Australia getting antsy for a breakthrough now

Chris Robinson

After 6 overs: Afghanistan 0-40

Bit happening now!

A bad Agar misfield gives up a boundary, and then Adam Zampa gets a piece of an attempted catch diving to his right at deep third - but it goes for four.

Afghanistan were conservative early but would be pretty pleased with this start now. Can they deal with Zampa on this deck?

Chris Robinson

Ouch!

There’s a stoppage here as Zadran is hit by a Cummins ball that followed him and struck him in the mid region.

The Aussies won’t mind the break as they eye a breakthrough. They’ve kept things fairly tidy, but there’s signs Gurbaz in particular is starting to ease into his work.

Chris Robinson

After 5 overs: Afghanistan 0-29

Afghanistan put the foot down a little here... including another big Gurbaz six down the ground off Hazlewood! He’s up to 17 off 19.

It’s rare the Aussies go an entire powerplay without taking a wicket. Cummins to try and change that here

Chris Robinson

After 4 overs: Afghanistan 0-17

Very nearly a maiden from Cummins.. and then Gurbaz goes BANG!

Down the ground to a full-ish ball for six. Sorely needed for the underdogs.

Just their second scoring shot in the space of 17 balls!

Chris Robinson

After 3 overs: Afghanistan 0-11

This is now a great start for Australia.

Just two off the Agar over, in a single scoring shot past the man at extra cover. While they haven’t broken through, it’s realy tight early. And plenty of turn.

Cummins takes the ball... will Afghanistan look to up the ante?

Chris Robinson

After 2 overs: Afghanistan 0-9

And Hazlewood follows with a typically frugal opening.

It’s two right-handers at the top for Afghanistan, and it means Agar gets a second over to see if he can break through.
