Carey carries on

His fellow South Australian Travis Head has departed but Alex Carey still looks in serene touch, moving along to 69.

Already the first Australian wicketkeeper to make both a hundred and a half-century in the same Ashes Test match, he will be looking to make more history by again bringing up three figures.

Does Inglis need runs?

Josh Inglis has now walked to the wicket at No.7 and he may need some runs in order to make a certainty of his place for the Boxing Day Test.

The West Australian has made a pair of starts in the series but Usman Khawaja’s strong return deputising for the ill Steve Smith will create pressure for spots in Melbourne.

Head gone!

Well, that came from nowhere!

Josh Tongue has picked up the wicket of Travis Head but it was hardly down to the skill of the bowler, with an almighty slog costing the South Australian his wicket.

Zak Crawley did not look comfortable under the ball on the leg-side boundary but managed to complete a catch to send Head on his way for 170.

The hometown hero has left Adelaide Oval to rapturous applause.

England run ragged

It’s all going wrong for England again.

Already in the early exchanges of day four, Australia have picked up runs via both overthrows and mis-fields, with the tourists looking well and truly ragged.

Travis Head is going along at quite the pace, clipping Carse past mid-on and belting a trademark cut shot for consecutive boundaries.

The summer of Carey

England star Stuart Broad once told Alex Carey he would be remembered for controversially dismissing Jonny Bairstow, but after a stunning summer, the Aussie star will now be remembered for his brilliance, writes Craig O’Donoghue.

Carse cut away again

Alex Carey has hit the first boundary of the morning by carving Brydon Carse through the off side.

The England seamer has been far too short and wide for the enterity of the series.

Enter Stokes

After not bowling on day three despite the England camp insisting he was fully fit, England captain Ben Stokes has taken up the attack on day four.

Alex Carey tucked him away for Australia’s first run of the morning.
