KL half century

He’s taken a back seat but KL Rahul has crafted a very nice half century.

He reaches the milestone with a classy back-foot punch behind point.

Jaiswow!

The young Indian opener is starting to go through his full range.

Starc drifted onto Jaiswal’s pads and he flicked him wide of fine-leg for six!

He is worth every cent if you can get down and watch him live.

Fan fun

The fans are having plenty of fun in the crowd as India continue to make runs before the drinks break.

Australia missed two half chances with a very tough chance at first slip going down before Smith had a runout chance but threw very wide.

Half century!

The Indian fans erupt for Jaiswal’s 50 and there’s a few Australians clapping in appreciation.

It’s been a classy knock from the 22-year-old who’s survived two searing spells from Cummins and Hazlewood while also locked in an intense battle with Lyon.

India has found another superstar of the future.

Rare air

Rahul and Jaiswal are starting to make a bit of history for team India.

This is now the fourth-highest opening partnership by a visiting pair in Perth, behind England’s Broad & Athey (223, 1986), England’s Boycott & Luckhurst (171, 1970), and West Indies’ Gayle & Dowlin (136, 2009).

Injury concern for Mitch Marsh?

Australian cricket great Matthew Hayden has raised concers over all-rounder Mitch Marsh’s fitness after he appeared to pull up sore from a delivery.

Marsh only bowled three overs today before the hosts brought in their fourth bowler, Nathan Lyon, prompting Hayden to ask the question of the West Aussie.

“I tell you what, Mitch (Marsh) looked really sore when he bowled that delivery (the no ball),” he told Seven.

“As he came down through his follow-on, he just looked like he was on ice a little bit. A little stiff.

“The Indian fast bowling unit - it took them to the 42nd over before the fourth bowler came in. Now Nathan Lyon looks like he is warming up.

“Just that workload for Mitch Marsh will be an issue as the summer wears on. It just doesn’t look like he pulled up well there. I do hope everything is all right.”
