India are looking to grind Australia into dust in sweltering conditions on day three, can the Aussies claw their way back into the contest?

The Aussies looked lifeless yesterday and the pitch seems to have settled down. If they can’t break this mighty opening stand early it could be a long day in the field for the home side in the stifling heat.

What could we see today

The second new ball is 23 overs away. India may want to make hay before then but given how much time is left in the game and the oppressive heat they may just be happy to let the Aussies bake.

We’ll see if there’s any nervous 90’s for Jaiswal but he doesn’t seem like a player who minds pressure.

Welcome

Hello and welcome to day three of The West Test with Australia down the barrel after India completely dominated day two.

They resume at 0-172 with a lead of 219 with Jaiswal on 90 and eyeing a century in his first tour down under while KL Rahul is looking rock solid on 62.

Australia looked lifeless at times yesterday compounded by the pitch flattening out. If they can’t find a breakthrough early or with the second new ball it will be a very long day in the baking sun.
