NFL: It’s the most-watched US sporting event of the year - and all eyes are on whether it’ll be the Patriots or the Seahawks who are crowned NFL champs.

In a rematch of the league’s decider from 2015, New England - led by quarterback Drake Maye - and Seattle - helmed by Sam Darnold - will go at it after both made unlikely surges this season to the title game.

And when the action pauses at half-time, Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny will take to the stage to put on a show, fresh off his Grammy win for Album of the Year.

Follow all the developments from the day below, with the game set to start at 10.30am EDT (7.30am WA time).

Six Seattle Seahawks sacks

Try saying that six times quickly.

Maye gets pinned AGAIN... but recovers a couple of plays later to extend the drive into Seattle territory...

FIELD GOAL: Seattle 22, New England 7

The Seahawks take the safety of a close-range field goal, and the buffer is out to 15.

5.38 left in the game. The Patriots need two touchdowns (with one of them a two-point conversion). It’d take a miracle, but we’ve seen it from them on this stage before...

Chris Robinson

INTERCEPTION! IS THAT THE GAME?!

That may be it!

Drake Maye was finding his groove, including a fine rush to pick up a first down, but a long throw goes nowhere near a teammate and into the arms of Julian Love of the Seahawks.

They’ll take over inside the 50 with less than 9 minutes left as they look to ice this thing!

Seattle 19, New England 7

And the Patriots DO get the quick stop!

Darnold marginally misses a sprinting Rashid Shaheed on what was a huge throw, and New England get the ball back.

But it’s ANOTHER fantastic punt from Michael Dickson to pin the Pats right back against their end zone! The Aussie is having a brilliant game.

Just under 11 minutes left...

Chris Robinson

TOUCHDOWN NEW ENGLAND!

Hold on... is there still a hint of life left in this game?!

Maye reverses three-and-a-bit quarters of horrendous offence to throw long to Mack Hollins, who completes a brilliant catch in the end zone under all kinds of pressure!

It’s back to 19-7. 12.27 remaining. Can the Patriots force a quick stop and make this thing real interesting, all of a sudden?

Chris Robinson

TOUCHDOWN! FINALLY!!

We’ve got a touchdown at last - and that might well be the end of that!

Darnold goes long to the back-right corner of the endzone where AJ Barner has sneaked loose, and connects for the game’s first six-point score. At long last.

The extra point makes it 19-0 Seahawks, and with 13.24 left, the engravers are just about safe to start getting to work on the trophy.

TURNOVER! Patriots cough it up

Seattle force the fumble and then recover the ball!

Derick Hall knocks it out of Maye’s hands as he was mulling his pass options, and then Byron Murphy is there to dive on it.

End of the third period, and it’s 12-0 Seattle and they’ve got the ball. They’ll look for the killer blow after the break.

“This has been one of the most brilliant performances... this defensive performance is as good as I’ve seen,” says Cris Collinsworth on the broadcast.

Patriots’ defence fighting hard

New England SOMEHOW remain alive in this game, with Christian Gonzalez leading a superb defensive effort. He bats away another pass attempt and the Patriots get a quick stop.

Star Seahawk Jaxon Smith-Njigba was forced into the blue medical tent and then walked down into the rooms, with his status for the rest of the game unclear. It’s understood concussion symptoms are the issue after banging his head on the turf with that previous catch.

Chris Robinson

A FOURTH sack for Maye

It’s official: It’s now a nightmare Super Bowl debut for Drake Maye.

He cops a fourth sack for the day and it’s once again a three-and-out for the Pats. He’s getting rushed, pressured and ultimately forced into poor execution, and it’s leading to precisely nothing for the New England offence.

It remains 12-0 with 3.38 remaining in the third. No team has EVER been scoreless in a Super Bowl, with 3 the lowest total out of the 59 games so far...

Chris Robinson

Seahawks concerns creeping in

They’ve got a 12-point lead midway through the third, but there’s just a couple of issues for Seattle now.

Darnold cops a sack as they are forced to go three-and-out, and more concerningly, star receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba appears to have copped an injury setback of some description.

The Patriots take over in decent position from their own 37-yard line, and simply must capitalise and find some points on this drive if they’re to make a game of it, you’d fancy.
