Damariscotta, USA: Surge in Bigfoot sightings prompts investigation which makes shocking find

A creature covered in fur wearing a top hat has caused panic in a small US town.

On Tuesday, the Damariscotta Police Department said they received an “unusually high number of calls” related to Bigfoot sightings in the small town in Maine.

The Sasquatch-like creature, was spotted in the grocery store, waving to students on their first day of school, and asked trunks to honk their horns.

In a Facebook post, Chief Erik Josephson said that a “lengthy, exhaustive, and completely serious investigation” was conducted by his department following the surge in sightings.

They came to the conclusion that “Bigfoot is not real”.

Chief Josephson said that he understood their findings would be met with mixed reactions from locals.

He said a member of his staff, Officer William Smith located the “elusive creature” sitting on Main Street and proceeded to have a “great conversation” with him.

The conversation was reportedly “pleasant” and “excited members of the public” interrupted several times.

“Despite our best efforts to gather compelling evidence, not a single Bigfoot grunt was heard,” the Facebook post read.

“Our investigation determined that the mysterious creature was, in fact, a man in a costume.

“There was no evidence of criminal activity, no indication of anything nefarious afoot, and unfortunately, no groundbreaking discovery of a previously unknown species.

“Just a guy in a very convincing costume.”

In a wholesome twist, the police department said that they had found “something almost as rare” as Bigfoot.

“A town full of people willing to stop what they’re doing to investigate a Bigfoot sighting and keep each other safe,” the post read.

“And honestly, we wouldn’t have it any other way.”
