Greece sunlounger brawl: Pensioner 82, dies, on Greek beach after fight over chair
The 82-year-old man reportedly died after an argument over a beach lounge at a popular tourist spot turned physical.
An 82-year-old pensioner is dead and another man, 76, has been arrested after a brawl over a sunlounger on a Greek tourist beach.
Bystanders at Vouliagmeni beach, near Athens, heard the victim embroiled in a fierce argument with a second man over the use of loungers on the popular seaside location before the altercation became physical.
Witnesses reported that the fight escalated as bystanders became involved with one describing the incident as pure “chaos”. There were also reports screams could be heard from the other side of the beach.

The Sun reported that another witness claimed to have seen a man and a woman beating the victim. Subsequent efforts to revive the 82-year-old man with CPR and a defibrillator ensued.
The victim was transferred by ambulance to Asklepieion hospital in Voula with serious injuries, the state broadcaster reported.
“Despite the efforts of doctors, at about 11am the elderly man succumbed to his wounds,” it said.
Police arrested the 76-year-old man and a 21-year-old woman who was with him, before the woman was later released.
Witnesses told Greek newspaper Ta Nea that the woman appeared to have a bloodied and swollen face.
The alleged assailant has been charged with causing fatal bodily harm.
Local media reported that the victim apparently had reserved the seat that sparked the fatal brawl and appeared to be waiting for other peoplet.
Renting a standard sunlounger on Greek beaches can cost from 5 euros to 30 euros a day.
