Kate Middleton: Princess of Wales apologises for Mother’s Day photo ‘confusion’

The Princess of Wales has spoken.

The Princess of Wales has issued an apology for her Mother’s Day photo, which five photography agencies pulled because it shows Kate posing with her children without a wedding ring.

In a social media post to X, Catherine wrote: “Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing. I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused.”

“I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C”

The photograph, reportedly taken by Prince William, was shared to Instagram for a Mother’s Day post with royal watchers quick to realise Kate was not wearing her wedding ring in the photo.

Hours later, and after Instagram followers cottoned on that something was off, photography agencies such as Getty Images and Associated Press issued an urgent “kill notice” over the image.
