King Charles and Queen Camilla ‘to visit Australia’ this year

Sunrise Royal Editor Rob Jobson says Charles and Camilla will come to Australia this year, despite the King's cancer battle.

King Charles and Queen Camilla will visit Australia this year, despite his ongoing cancer battle, Sunrise Royal Editor Rob Jobson has confirmed.

Speaking with Nat Barr and Matt Shirvington on Sunrise this morning, Jobson said he had confirmed the news via exclusive intel.

“I have no doubt they will visit Australia this year,” he said.

“He will be at the summit in Samoa and is prioritising Australia. He has a great affection for Australians, and my understanding is he will do Samoa for the Commonwealth summit and before that, he will do Australia.”

The Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting will be held in Samoa in October.

Jobson added that the tour will be extensive, covering many major cities, but its scope will depend on the Australian Government’s plans.

The Sunday Times revealed earlier this year that WA Premier Roger Cook planned to write to Buckingham Palace, inviting the King and Queen to visit the State.

“WA is prepared to roll out the red carpet for the pair, and show them what makes our State so special. From the stunning beaches and wine regions of the south to the rugged natural beauty of the north, there are countless options for the couple to relax and enjoy WA.

“And I’d love to see the King and Queen pose for a quokka selfie on Rottnest Island — an experience that is truly unique to WA.”
